TECHNICAL HELP IS AVAILABLE!

During the pandemic a caring teenager named Pratyush Srivastava came to LITA and offered to help older adults at long term care facilities learn how to use and manage current technology, to provide another avenue for connection.  He has been helping older adults at Aegis of Corte Madera and Northgate PostAcute Care in San Rafael to use cell phones, Chrome Books, and to navigate their way through FaceBook, FaceTime, and other current modes of communication.  He is willing to help other facilities too, as well as to teach other teens how to serve in a similar role for LITA.

Please let us know if you are interested by contacting our Director of Volunteers, David Knepler, at dknepler@litamarin.org.

I started volunteering at Aegis Living post-pandemic as I realized how isolated people had become. Despite being isolated, people had the technology to connect and eventually became used to it. Younger generations like mine have grown up around technology, so it has been incorporated into our daily lives. Still, the older generations have lived most of their life without technology and aren’t able to connect with the families they were isolated from during the pandemic. This is why I decided to start the tech program at Aegis Living, to support seniors with their technical needs so we can bridge the gap between the generations. I come in once a week so all the seniors that need help can meet me in the lounge where I help them with their needs.
