2023 Party A La Heart
A Big Success!
Some fun factoids about LITA’s annual fundraising event, held Sunday, May 7 from 2-5:00 pm:
We raised $30K after expenses! We had 25 event sponsors! It was held at Perry's on Magnolia in Larkspur on their lovely back patio that is adjacent to a creek. We had a silent auction and a raffle at the in-person event. The raffle was a getaway to Monterey that included:
Overnight at the Monterey Bay Plaza Hotel
$500 gift card for Schooners Restaurant, Vista Blue Spa or an extra
night's stay
Round of golf for two + cart at Pacific Grove Golf Links
Tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Tickets for a Whale Watching Expedition
Book describing regional hikes by Robert Stone
Award-winning Refuge Spa admission tickets
The winner was LITA supporter Steve Isaacs.
There were 55 people in attendance.
Margaret Schlachter won an award for outstanding service as an enthusiastic volunteer supporting LITA for 38 years. David Knepler, Director of Volunteers, who presented the award said that Margaret often spent time with her LITA friends until their death. She has sometimes been the last person to talk with her LITA friend, or has been the only person to visit them. On one occasion she was the only person attending the LITA friend's burial. LITA volunteers bring much joy to the lives of older adults in Marin.
Becky Oken won an award for her generosity, dedication and service to LITA. Becky has been a supporter of LITA since nearly its inception in 1975. She and her husband Jerry Oken were title sponsors for the A La Heart event.
And a big thank you for the live music courtesy of guitarist/singer Arthur Javier who entertained us with songs from great artists like Cole Porter, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli and the Beatles. Arthur has performed throughout the Bay Area and in Europe, Latin America and Asia.
