LITA's 2022 Party A La Heart a Success!

This year LITA spent a sunny Sunday afternoon at Perry's in Larkspur on May 22 celebrating Party A La Heart, our annual fundraising event.  We had a silent auction with forty-one items including everything from hand-signed art, unique walking sticks, restaurant gift certificates and fine wines, to experiences like attending the Marin Symphony, or flying on a private plane. There was one live auction item, a San Francisco Giants Dream experience that provided two tickets to a game with prime seats as well as other benefits. Every Silent Auction item sold, and many sold for over their value, thanks to the generosity of LITA supporters.

Noah Griffin and Julio Reyes provided live jazz and classical music that was enjoyed by all.  Noah is known and loved by LITA and throughout the Bay Area as a spirited entertainer and as President of the Cole Porter Society. Julio teaches guitar and gives lectures/masterclasses on the life and music of Agustin Barrios Mangore, a prolific composer and guitarist.

Keeping the crowd mostly laughing was board member and emcee Paul Weiss. Vice Chair Bill Strawbridge gave an award (one that had been created in his honor) to Reed B. McClintock who has served as board chair for many years, and whose support of LITA has been unwavering.  Erik Flatt, owner of Three Home Village in San Rafael, gave a heartfelt speech about the positive role that LITA plays in the lives of many older adults in Marin.

Volunteer Lisa Barry received the Aline Shaw Award for her outstanding effort in promoting and supporting LITA's mission.  She brought her dog, Argie, who also is a LITA volunteer helping to provide companionship to LITA friends at Bello Gardens.

We also had an online auction in the days leading up to Party A La Heart, with an additional sixty items that brought bidders from near and far. Thank you to everyone who participated. We hope you had fun! . If you couldn't make it this year, we hope that you can come join in the fun in the future.

Between both auctions and including donations and sponsorships, we surpassed our goal of $19,500
